Echo Beach.

New series on kandicook.comThe Beach… shot with 35mm film and a modified holga (I think at least one roll was expired).  I was so excited about these photos, I was very satisfied with how they turned out, especially the dreamlike colors and crunchy spots and scratches.  Before I wound the film back into the canister, I held it in my hand and exposed it to bright daylight, which gave the edges a nice burned out effect on one of the rolls.  I love my dslr, but nothing compares to the excitement and uncertainty of film.  Yay analog.

  1. lovely as always, kan!

i’m having an issue with some color 35mm i shot at the beach with my vivitar SLR. somehow the film ripped off of the canister, so i have no way of rewinding it back into it, and even if i do, i doubt i can take it to a crappy ol’ one hour place to get it developed now. AND, i opened my camera to see what was going on (even though i could tell it had ripped – i was just hoping otherwise), so now it’s been all fogged.

i was thinking of trying to caffenol it, but i’m still unsure if i can caffenol C-41 color film.

    eeeakaaaack!

  2. Thanks!

I don’t know if you can caffenol c-41… I think not, but am really not sure…

In a darkbox you can probably rig the film back into the canister… I’d try it – I think our old negative developer used tension as a way of knowing when to cut the negative from the canister, but I think it would still go through fine. The machine just might not know that the roll ended… but I don’t see how that would be a problem… Try it!
