Having the flu = blogging about TV.

Things I did today:

  • Woke up feeling like butt.
  • Got two shots: an antibiotic and a sinus cocktail.
  • Almost fainted while leaving the doctor’s office.
  • Took a nap for about 3-4 hours.
  • Utilized the pharmacy drive-thru to pick up prescriptions .
  • Started knitting a pair of booties and a scarf, gave up on both.
  • Started knitting a hat, messed it up, gave up.
  • Came up with a new potential dog name: “Butters”  (Other potential dog names include “Sprinkles”, “Gumbeaux”, “Boat”, and “Sputnik”).

So, I’ve been sick for a full week now.  That’s a lot of loafin’.  I usually wouldn’t put the TV on a sports channel on my own, but there are some sports shows I like better than others… for instance, Stump the Schwab.  We’ve been TiVo-ing episodes of STS lately (don’t think it comes on anymore) and I’m a fan.  The Schwab seems kind of cocky sometimes, and I like that.  I always root for the Schwab for this reason.  Also, I like Pardon the Interruption, but something about it makes you a little frustrated when you’re already feeling under the weather:

10 Reasons PTI gives me anxiety:

  1. Stupid vertical bars on either side of the screen that say “ESPN2HD”.
  2. Annoying ticker that never, ever stops displaying up-to-date sports info.  Is it possible to gain information from the ticker while at the same time paying attention to the actual show?  I mean, it’s not like subtitles, what you’re reading and what you’re watching/listening to are two different things.
  3. Vertical bar on right side takes up too much room, feels too cluttery, also: has timer (which is vital to the show, I understand, but kind of makes  you feel anxious).
  4. Advertisement- smaller than other shows, and only appears once… but still.
  5. BIG FINISH takes up too much room and has crappy drop shadow.
  6. Specific question abbreviated on bottom of screen while keyword highlighted on vertical bar No.3.
  7. Barely any screen left then somehow they manage to split it in two.
  8. Actual part of the screen you are watching is a fraction of the entire viewing area.
  9. (Volume) For some reason ESPN is way louder than any other channel.
  10. EVERYTHING WRITTEN IN ALL CAPS!
