Yesterday morning my friend drove about an hour and a half to come over to my house and do something the both of us have been wanting to do for a very, very long time: screen print! I bought supplies this past autumn and made a few note cards using the stencil method, and this time planned on executing the screen filler method (next I’ll try photo emulsion). We spent much of the day printing our own tees and note cards (with a break in the middle for a trip to Las Tortugas), and anyway, here are a few photos from our little adventure!
Screen set-up: application of drawing fluid, then screen filler over that, then rinsing off the drawing fluid and letting everything dry to make a negative.
Juli is much cooler than me – even her screen was handmade! We got impatient with all the long drying times and broke out the hair dryer.
Gettin’ ready to get nervous…
(drumroll…) A tote bag! And a tee shirt!
Next step: Juli heat sets fabric inks with an iron

Woohoo! Our finished projects.
Awesome. …If anyone wants something with “BATON ROUGE” screened on it, just let me know! Ha ha ha! No, seriously.

Yay, congratulations! The tote and tee look so good!
I have always wanted to that, but I have no idea about the different methods.
But I will check it out more throughout so maybe I catch the train in this process. ;)

Jill D – Thanks, we were both so surprised how good everything turned out.
Henry – Screen printing was a lot easier than I had anticipated. You definitely should try it sometime!

WOO!
That was so epic!! They turned out just fabulous.
